The Ahwatukee Foothills Chamber of Commerce is offering the community a unique chance to discover Cuba through a fully-inclusive “cultural connections” program.

Chamber president and CEO Anne Gill said the trip is a way to bring community awareness to the chamber.

“It helps build relationships,” Gill said. “It’s open to chamber members and non-members so we hope the community will take advantage of this. It’s a great chance to travel and have everything taken care of for you. You’ll get to go on a trip you may not otherwise be able to do on your own.”

The eight-day, seven-night trip will allow community members to travel to Cuba in a way that’s unique from a typical tourists trip. The price of $4,099, with a $550 single supplement, includes airfare, seven nights in first-class hotels, most meals, baggage handling services, professional guides and drivers, deluxe motor coaches, an entry visa and Cuban medical insurance. During the trip travelers will visit Old Havana (UNESCO World Heritage Site), the Cathedral de la Havana, the Museo Fine Arts, Pinar Del Rio/Vinales, a Cigar Factory tour, Hemingway’s Farm — Finca La Vigia, and more.

Gill said while the trip is meant to give some cultural experiences it will also allow guests to see business practices in other parts of the world.

Chamber Explorations is the company organizing the trip. Gill said she did a lot of research before selecting this company, which has coordinated similar trips for chambers across the country and has been issued a specific license by the U.S. Department of Treasury, Office of Foreign Assets Control. From her knowledge the Ahwatukee chamber has never done a trip like this before, but Gill said she hopes to provide the community with more opportunities in the future.

The tour of Cuba will depart on Nov. 15. The chamber will be having an informational meeting on Tuesday, June 25 at 6 p.m. at the chamber office, 4435 E. Chandler Blvd., to provide those who are interested with more information. Space is limited. For more information, visit ahwatukeechamber.com.
