The Future City Competition Arizona Region will celebrate its 15th anniversary on Jan. 27. Alumni who have participated in previous competitions are invited.

Arizona Region alumni include teachers, students, parents, sponsors, technical and engineering society members, education administrators, government officials, volunteers, and others who have participated in improving the educational experience for middle school students since the competition's inception in June 1997.

Confirmed speakers for the anniversary celebration include Randii Wessen of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, who is working on the next Mars Rover project; Al Winn, a longtime Future City celebrity judge and recently retired head of the Boeing Apache Helicopter Program; and Greg Stanton, a former celebrity judge and new mayor of Phoenix.

The celebration will take place at the Arizona Science Center, 600 E. Washington St., from 6 to 9 p.m. RSVP is recommended and the event is $20 in advance, or $25 at the door.

For more information on the 15th anniversary celebration, and to RSVP for the event, go to http://www.futurecityarizona.org/event.
