Keller Williams Realty is making it easy to have a good time and help a good cause this weekend with its October Charity Fest, taking place tonight.
Sonoran Realty Keller Williams is hosting the event in their parking lot with activities for all ages, and proceeds will benefit the Ahwatukee Foothills Family YMCA and the Kyrene Resource Center.
The event is part of Keller Williams' inhouse charity fund, called REACT, Real Estate Agents Caring Together.
They host events throughout the year to benefit the two local charities they have selected. This is the fifth year for the October Charity Fest.
"We usually make $2,000 to $4,000 just in the one event, so we do pretty well," said Shanda Wimbish, executive assistant at Keller Williams Realty. "We have so many events throughout the year, but this is a big one because we have so much going on for the kids. We have face painting and live music, and it's all for $5.
"It's for our company to hang out, but also for the community to come out and support one another."
So far they've raised $15,000 for their charities, but the goal is to give each charity $10,000 at the end of the year. With raffle prizes like a trip for two to Rocky Point, they're hoping to generate enough interest in the event to reach their goal.
Activities will include a mac and cheese and chili cook-off, face painting, pumpkin carving, a raffle and a live auction.
The event will take place in the parking lot of 4621 E. Chandler Blvd. beginning at 5:30 p.m., and will cost $5 to get in.
"It's to help our local families here in Ahwatukee," Wimbish said. "People think of Ahwatukee in a certain light, but there are definitely a lot of people in need and this is just to help our community."
