With the holidays right around the corner, My Wine Cellar and Bistro will be hosting its third annual Wine Festival for the Ahwatukee community. The goal: to have the perfect bottle of vino for Thanksgiving dinner.

The restaurant, which doubles as a bar, will feature 20 different wine selections from four wine distributors and a special food menu created by Chef Sarah Baer.

Baer, a graduate from Scottsdale Culinary Institute, has been manning the kitchen station for My Wine Cellar and Bistro since 2011, offering a wide variety of dishes from bacon and squash flat bread and handmade pasta dishes to go perfectly with different wine selections.

Owner Zoya Vora-Shah said preparations for the wine festival took place immediately after she opened for business three years ago, with the festival always taking place the weekend before Thanksgiving.

“I’ve been in the wine business for a long time and have been a wine distributor for 10 years before I owned this place… it’s a great way to have people try different things,” Vora-Shah said. “It was a natural progression that I would invite wine distributors and have a wine tasting event once a year.”

Individuals who attend the festival will be given 20 tickets and a glass to sample each wine served during the event.

Each ticket allows participants to try the different wine selections, giving them the opportunity to ask any questions they might have about a particular vino.

“That way they can really understand and learn what they are drinking,” Vora-Shah said. “This is great a way of people coming in on Sunday during the day enjoying some music and making new friends.”

Music will also be provided by “Notes from Neptune,” where the duo will play live on the patio.

The cost for attending the event will be $25 per person or $20 cash at the door.

The wine festival will take place at My Wine Cellar and Bistro, 5030 E. Warner Road, this Sunday, Nov. 24 from noon to 3 p.m.
