It's that time of year again when Arizonans are collecting information to file their annual federal and state tax returns. This year's deadline for filing taxes is April 17.

The AARP Foundation Tax-Aide Program will begin offering free tax counseling and tax preparation assistance beginning Feb. 1 for people of middle and low incomes, with special attention given to people over 60.

The AARP Foundation Tax-Aide program is a free community service with sites set up at various churches, libraries and community centers in the state. Tax-Aide volunteers are trained by AARP in cooperation with the Internal Revenue Service. Last year, Tax-Aide volunteers in Arizona helped nearly 95,000 people prepare their federal and state tax returns at 80 sites in Arizona.
