The city of Phoenix will celebrate Community Development Week by honoring nonprofit agencies and businesses that have used Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds in an exemplary manner. Members of the city’s Community Development Review Committee also will be acknowledged for their work in providing resident input into the CDBG planning process.

The city’s Neighborhood Services Department will host the awards ceremony from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 24, at the Helen Drake Senior Center, 7600 N. 27th Ave.

Each year, NSD administers approximately $15 million in CDBG funds. CDBG is the catalyst for extensive partnerships and five-fold leveraging of resources to help turn communities around. Without CDBG dollars in place, the leveraged dollars would not follow.

In addition, 11 members of the Community Development Review Committee will receive awards for their work throughout the year in reviewing, rating and recommending programs to be funded.

The Review Committee is comprised of citizen representatives from the Housing Commission, Human Services Commission, and at-large representatives from the private sector.

For additional information on the city’s Community Development Block Grant opportunities, call (602) 256-3378 or email grants.nsd@phoenix.gov.
