Old Navy in the Ahwatukee Foothills Towne Center will be closing at the end of this month to relocate to the new Phoenix Premium Outlets on the Gila River Indian Community.
The store will close on June 25. Leticia Gonzales, service and training manager for the store, said she hasn’t heard anything about what might fill the location. Right now, Old Navy is marking down many items to sale prices and will be hosting a store closing sale sometime before June 25.
Employees at the local store will be split between the Phoenix Premium Outlets and Arizona Mills locations.
The Ahwatukee Foothills Towne Center has gone through changes recently: Sprouts Farmer’s Market opened in August and Chick-fil-A opened in April. Mellow Mushroom is set to take over the old Rock Bottom Brewery location soon.
There has been a lot of construction to bring in Michaels, which was previously located across Ray Road in Foothills Park Place.
“We are working with several tenants that are looking at the Michaels space,” said Bryan Ledbetter of Zell Commercial Real Estate, which leases the Foothills Park Place. “We do not have anything that we can report yet... Michaels ultimately needed more space and are moving to expand the store to their larger format to better compete with competition.”
Michaels will have more than 26,900 square feet in the location next to Sprouts.
Ahwatukee Foothills Towne Center still has several smaller spaces available.
DDR manages the Ahwatukee Foothills Towne Center, which stretches from Best Buy on the north side of Ray Road at Interstate 10 to Spencer’s TV and Appliance on the western end near 46th Street.
