The new ownership at Brillare Hairdressing Academy has a vision to use the Ahwatukee Foothills and Scottsdale locations as models for a high-end hair school as it expands to more locations across the U.S.

Christa Jones, CEO of Brillare, purchased the school about eight months ago. She has been in the private education industry for more than 25 years and said when she had an opportunity to choose what type of school she wanted to run she felt like a beauty school was a natural fit.

Since taking over, Jones has been working to transition the school to make the education her students get truly unique. Recently the school began using Davines Product Line, an eco-friendly product line that comes from Italy and can be found exclusively in high-end salons and boutiques. Brillare is the first and only cosmetology school in Arizona to use the Davines line. The school uses the products on customers and sells it as well. They also carry Moroccanoil, Eufora and GK Hair products.

“There are two tiers of cosmetology schools,” Jones said. “There are those that serve the masses, we don’t want anything to do with that necessarily. We want to serve the high-end salons.”

The schools has also began to offer additional programs and class times so students can come in for night classes or mid-day classes that might work better for people with kids trying to go back to school.

Jones said her vision is to brand Brillare as higher education in cosmetology. The two existing campuses will act as models as the school grows. Jones said she’d like to get to 20 campuses nationwide.

The two campuses aren’t quite ready to be models yet, but Jones said they’re close. She’d like to see students learning more about the art of blow drying and men’s cutting. Customer service will also be emphasized as the school moves forward.

The school will be hosting a Campus Showcase at the Ahwatukee location, 15210 S. 50th St., Suite 150, on Saturday, March 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tours of the facility will be offered. There will also be a farmers market and BUZZNBEES food truck.
