Making clients feel beautiful in a clean environment is the focus for the new owners of AZ Tips and Toes Nail Spa in Ahwatukee Foothills.

Larry and Kate Phan took over the salon in May and have made some big changes since then. They’ve remodeled the interior of the salon completely and have updated their list of services.

Kate has been doing nails for about 12 years. It’s something she said she never expected to be doing. In fact, Kate went to school for accounting, but after graduation she became interested in doing nails and decided to go back to school to pursue a completely different career.

“I love making people feel beautiful,” she said.

Kate had been helping a friend run a salon for years before she married Larry in November of 2012. At the time Larry had a successful travel business, but seeing Kate run the salon he decided to sell his business and go into business with her.

“She has so much experience in the business,” he said. “She knows the technique but also helped her friend run a business so she knows that side, too. I catch on to new things very fast and I’ve been in customer service a long time. I enjoy working with people and meeting new people and learning new things about them.”

Larry said their nail spa is unique because of their high quality products, customer service and cleanliness. They don’t re-use any pumice stones but have individual ones for each customer and even the lotion they use packaged separately for each customer so the nail techs are not reaching into the same tub of lotion for everyone.

The salon does acrylic and gel nails, manicures and pedicures, waxing, facials, eyelash extensions and eyebrow tinting.

AZ Tips and Toes Nail Spa is located at 15425 S. 48th St., Suite 106. For more information, call (480) 961-0999.
