As a hair stylist with more than 25 years behind the chair, with eight of those in Ahwatukee Foothills, Renee Logue said she is undergoing a “rebirth” with changes to her studio salon.

Logue’s studio salon will now be called Rogue Hair 54, from her previous name of Dragonfly Hair Design. Logue moved to Arizona from New York eight years ago before finding herself at local, traditional salons, and then venturing to the entrepreneur-like studio salon suites at Studio 46.

The collection of studio spaces used for hair salons near 48th Street and Chandler Boulevard house a handful of studio salons including Iannapollo’s.

Though she is currently sharing a suite with another stylist, Logue will have the suite to herself in January.

With the opportunity to expand her work area and remodel the space, Logue said she wants to keep the business a one-woman show.

“It’s served its purpose, but at my age I can’t wait to be in my own space,” added Logue, 54.

Logue, who lives in Ahwatukee, said booking her own clients, making her own schedules, and having control over the environment of the salon is a perk of being in a studio.

“Your own artistic flair is sometimes dampened,” said Logue, of working in traditional salons.

Though she admits you have to wear many hats being self-employed, Logue’s confidence in building her own professional clientele has proven successful.

“I’ve been very proactive in getting out and talking with people,” she added.

Now living in Ahwatukee, a mere three-minute drive from her studio salon, Logue mentioned there was a disconnect with clients when she lived in Tempe.

“There is much more of a sense of community now,” she said.

With her salon’s change, Logue sees the new name as a mark of this time her life, and also a good description of her personality. “Rogue” is akin to Logue’s personality of seeking to go beyond the norm, and the No. 54 represents her current age.

“I’m basically rebirthing this new segment of my life and business,” Logue said. “And it signifies this new business.”
