Much of the team at Arizona Leather Restorations have been helping families protect their furniture investments for close to 10 years.

“We look at furniture as an investment,” said Liz Hosmer, owner of the business. “It’s not disposable. When I walk into a home I’m looking for how can I protect your investment. You already spent thousands. We can help you only pay a fraction of that to get it back to looking like new.”

Arizona Leather Restorations has a team trained to dye, repair, clean or replace old or damaged leather. They can handle indoor furniture, outdoor furniture, vinyl, automotive, hand bags and even jackets and not just in leather but all upholstery needs.

“You don’t have to buy brand new,” Hosmer said. “You can fix up what you have. There are many options whether it’s replacing parts, doing a leather fabric combo or just cleaning and some dying.”

Leather does require maintenance, Hosmer warned, but even if clients have let the furniture go for a few years without proper care, they can help.

Though the company has only been around since January, Hosmer said their team is not new to leather restoration. They all worked together for a different company, but the working environment was hard on the employees.

“We had no air conditioning and no benefits,” Hosmer said. “We were working in a tin building in 100-plus-degree weather. Production during the summer was terrible… We decided that we should eliminate the problem, stick together as a team, and start our own company… Instead of an employee taking a week and a half off because they couldn’t see a doctor to get better, I knew we could provide that for them and they could get back to work sooner. We all just aligned and said this is what we’re going to do.”

The group now works from a smaller space, but they have air conditioning and full health benefits. The employees also get profit sharing so very little product is wasted and each employee knows how important their clients are.

“This is art,” Hosmer said. “It’s fun for us. We do it because we love it... We know if we’re happy our clients will be happy because they get the best work from us.”

So far, clients have been happy. Hosmer said because of their experience they’ve been able to retain many larger companies as clients. They have all the insurance necessary to handle projects from large hotels, golf courses and medical companies. Still, their favorite projects are the ones that call for real creativity like repairing an old World War II jacket or completely re-dying a dated piece of furniture.

“It’s nice seeing how happy we make people,” Hosmer said. “Our customers are always happy to see us and happy to hear from us. They’re amazed at the things we can do.”
