Ahwatukee Foothills resident Alicia Bircz has seen a new hair style give a person a new view on life.

It’s what made her decide to pursue it as a career after graduating from Desert Vista in 2006. Since then she went on to school at Tony and Guy Hair Academy and was licensed in 2007. After years of doing hair just on the side she decided to get back into hair full time, and now she has her own salon space inside Signature Salon Studios.

“I just love it,” Bircz said. “It’s like buying a new pair of shoes. It makes you feel good. I had a little girl who was my client when I was in hair school and she had really bad psoriasis. She was embarrassed but she would leave so happy because I could make it look pretty. She would leave with her head a little higher and that makes me feel good. They might not be able to duplicate what you did, but as long as they feel good for that one night and keep coming back.”

Bircz specializes in color and color correction, a skill which she says is always in demand. She’s working on becoming a color specialist through Redken and her goal some day is to do color education for Redken and teach other stylists about their products.

“I’m an all Redken concept salon,” Bircz said. “It’s usually a bigger salon that does that, not just one chair, but I’m really dedicated to Redken. I really like their products. They stand behind it. I’ve never had any issues with it. You know what you’re getting. They’re great with their education. The distributor is wonderful. They just really stand behind it and it’s a wonderful product.”

Alicia’s Cuts and Colors is located at 3936 E. Chandler Blvd., in Suite 101. For more information, call (480) 510-1267.
