The deadline is quickly approaching for Maricopa County charities to apply for the $100,000 Humana Communities Benefit-Arizona grant sponsored by health benefits provider Humana Inc. For the sixth year, Humana will award the one-time grant to a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that focuses on improving health experiences or building healthy communities.
Applications are being accepted through June 29, and will be considered in the areas of childhood health and education, health literacy and services, or intergenerational health. The 2011 grant was awarded to Arizona Bridge to Independent Living, which helps people with disabilities build strength and self-confidence.
