Barro’s Pizza in Ahwatukee Foothills will be changing locations after 25 years.

Owner Bruce Barro said the move was due to a customer base that never really recovered from the downfall of the economy in the mid-2000s. From their current location, 3233 E. Chandler Blvd., they will move to the center at the southwest corner of Ray Road and 48th Street near where Sprouts will be opening around that same time.

With current plans, Barro estimates it will be ready to open by mid-September.

“Probably the last couple of years, things have kind of plateaued for us at that location while other businesses seem to be picking back up,” Barro said. “Even though our new location will be only about 1.5 miles away, we hope it will make a difference. There are not a lot of reasons to pull people from I-10 out unless you live out there.”

Barro said the business will be keeping the same staff and phone number for the transition.

Barro’s Pizza has expanded steadily over the years. They added a dining room after expanding to 3,000 square feet, then purchased and added another 1,000 square feet to the business later on.

“We have pride in everything because we do like that location,” Barro said. “But now we see the way it’s going and it’s become a harder time. We are hoping for more foot traffic and hopefully we will keep the majority of our customers.”

We take my son and his teammates to that location all the time. The service is so great that I have no problem driving to a new location. Excited to see a new dining room!
