The Ahwatukee Foothills Chamber of Commerce appointed Beth Amoroso, Jim Hunt, Kent Johnson, Larry North, Bruce Peterson, Liane Rouzaud and Janet Schwab to its 2013 Board of Directors.
Amoroso is the human resources director for Harrah’s Ak-Chin Casino. She has extensive experience in organizational design, training, communications, business strategy, mergers and acquisitions and employee and labor relations. She served on the board of United Way of Pinal County for four years, chaired the Personnel and Fun Distribution Committees and is very active in Harrah’s Ak-Chin Volunteer Committee, Hero.
Hunt is a managing partner for Henderson-Hunt Insurance Agency with Farmers Insurance. He has been with Farmers and the insurance industry for over 23 years. He is also a longtime chamber member and ambassador, and is very involved in the high school sports as a Champion Sponsor for the AIA. One of Hunt’s passions over the years has been his long-term relationship with the March of Dimes.
Johnson is publisher of the Ahwatukee Foothills News. Before that he served as advertising director of 1013 Communications in its East Valley Tribune office in Tempe. Johnson had a 13-year tenure with Gannett and was Advertising Director of the Year in 2009 with Freedom Communications. He is the 2013 co-chair of the Red, White and Boom Fireworks committee.
North is an accomplished network operations director for Century Link with a successful leadership track record spanning 20 years. He has spent 13 years in ILEC telecom, eight years in federal government as a submarine officer and Navy diver. North has extensive experience in telecom networking operations, driving benchmark operations and sales as well as experience with regulatory regulations. He also volunteers for Habitat for Humanity.
Peterson is a Wells Fargo financial advisor. He has been working with individual investors and business owners since 1998. He is a past president and a current member of the Tempe South Rotary Club as well as a past assistant district governor of Rotary International District 5510. His work with Rotary has included chairing the Hunger Plus Program and he currently serves as co-chair for the Rotary International — District 5510 Ambassadorial Scholarship Program.
Rouzaud is the assistant vice president and banking center manager for the Ahwatukee branch of MidFirst Bank. She instills the value of giving back to community in staff, friends and family. Through her efforts, she has helped raise thousands of dollars for the community utilizing her positive attitude and business connections. She serves as Ahwatukee Rotary president, YMCA board president and Ahwatukee Community Network Board chair.
Schwab is co-owner of Elements Therapeutic Massage. Prior to being a business owner, she taught in the Chandler Unified School District for 13 years both in the classroom and as a technology specialist. Last year, she was the chair for the Women in Business Committee and will co-chair and facilitate Women in Business in 2013. Schwab’s goal is to help showcase the strength of business women and promote the importance of supporting the local business community.
