Meets every Thursday morning at 7:30 a.m. at Biscuits, 4623 E. Elliot Road.

Q: What type business do you represent?

A: I have been a teacher for over 35 years and now I am a representative of the Ahwatukee Kiwanis Club.

Kiwanis is a service organization that focuses on children and the community. The first Kiwanis Club was started in 1915 in Detroit and has been accomplishing amazing things ever since.

Q: What are some exciting things happening with Kiwanis?

A: he Ahwatukee Kiwanis Club runs the Ahwatukee Easter Parade and Spring Fling every spring before Easter. We collect new and used bikes (which we refurbish), called Bikes for Tykes. Kiwanis holds book drives and many of our members volunteer at schools for reading time.

Q: What is your background?

A: I taught business-oriented classes at the high school and university level. I also gave seminars for businesses on sales training. I have always enjoyed the service organization aspect of the community.

I started with the Rotary Club and when I moved to Phoenix, I joined Kiwanis. I like seeing the positive results our organization has on the community and cherish the friendships I have made over the years.

Q: What are your special interests?

A: Years ago I enjoyed long-distance running. Now I walk at least three times a week. I love to travel and when I am here in Ahwatukee I like to promote the chamber whenever I can.
