It is with sadness that we report the passing of Shirley Eubanks, former membership director of the Ahwatukee Foothills Chamber of Commerce. Shirley joined the chamber in 1998 where she recruited new members, helped local businesses grow and supported the community. She worked for the organization until she retired in 2011.

During her tenure she was instrumental in starting the Chamber’s Women in Business program. Shirley poured her heart and soul into Women in Business arranging their luncheons, trade shows and a spin-off group, Common Threads. The committee also created a scholarship for the development of women in business. In November of 2011 she was presented with the Women in Business Lifetime Achievement Award by the chamber for her outstanding dedication and service.

Before serving the chamber, Shirley and her husband, Hiley, operated their own business, Reliable Reproductions in Tempe. While in business Shirley was the recipient of the Arizona Business Woman of the Year award three times. After 32 years of business ownership she and Hiley thought they would settle down and sold the company. Shirley became a member of Zonta International (a women supporting women service organization) in 1980 and eventually became chairwoman where she and Hiley traveled the world to advance the status of women.

Shirley always had a strong belief that if women reach for the stars, with a little hard work, drive and sense of humor, they can accomplish anything.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends in this difficult time.

A Celebration of Life memorial will be Saturday, Feb. 15 at 11 a.m. at the San Tan Mountain View Funeral Home, 21809 S. Ellsworth Road, in Queen Creek.
