The Ahwatukee Foothills Chamber of Commerce’s Women in Business is the proud host of Red, White and Beautiful and this year it is booming! Red, White and Beautiful is a unique girls’ night out of pampering and shopping just in time for Mother’s Day. Red, White and Beautiful began in June of 2010 as a fundraiser to support the community Red, White and Boom fireworks.

Each year the Red, White and Beautiful has evolved. In 2010, 60 women attended the evening at the Ahwatukee Country Club. In 2012, the event was moved to the Foothills Golf Club, allowing more local vendors and service providers to participate. Attendance continues to grow. This year, Red, White and Beautiful will be on Thursday, May 9 at the Ahwatukee Recreation Center, 5001 E. Cheyenne Drive, with a goal of 40 service providers and vendors. Free pampering services often include mini manicures, massages, make-up demonstrations, and hair styling up-dos. Shopping for a Mother’s Day gift, birthday gift or maybe a graduation gift? Various jewelry displays, scarves, candles, fashionable clothing and unique gifts are available for purchase. Light appetizers are donated by local restaurants and a cash bar is available. It’s perfect for relaxing and sharing some time with girlfriends.

This year’s Red, White and Beautiful will also include a fashion show. Local clothing boutiques will model the latest summer fashions and give styling advice featuring community members as models. The models hair and make-up will showcase local stylists.

The chamber’s focus is to provide on-going support and community connections for businesses so non–member businesses are invited to participate.

“I’m truly grateful to the chamber and am looking forward to participating again this year,” said Karla Youmans, owner of Bella Lacet Lingerie. “This event provides a perfect setting not only to meet other small business owners, but also gives us the opportunity to connect directly with the community and market to our primary audience.

Furthermore, like other small business, we have a limited marketing budget and this event offers a great bang for our buck — and it’s fun!”

All businesses participating in Red, White and Beautiful donate an item supporting the Women in Business Scholarship Fund Raffle. Each year at the Annual Palo Verde Award Gala in November, Women in Business awards scholarships to women in the Ahwatukee community who are furthering their education.

The Ahwatukee Foothills Chamber of Commerce Women in Business hosts assorted events for the community on the third Tuesday of each month — luncheons with noted speakers, Health & Wellness expos, Business Showcases, and our yearly chamber fundraising Palo Verde Award Gala. Support the community fireworks, shop local and enjoy being pampered — it’s a win-win for all!
