Red, White and Beautiful, sponsored by Women in Business, will be on Thursday, May 8, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Foothills Golf Club, 2201 E. Clubhouse Drive. This event is open to the entire community and benefits the Red, White & Boom Fireworks Festival on July 3. So mark your calendar and don’t miss out!

Shopping for a Mother’s Day gift, birthday gift or maybe a graduation gift? Various jewelry displays, scarves, candles, fashionable clothing and unique gifts are available for purchase. Light appetizers are donated by local restaurants and a cash bar is available. It’s a perfect evening for relaxing and sharing some time with girlfriends. Enjoy free pampering services that often include mini manicures, massages, make-up demonstrations, and hair styling suggestions.

Besides the pampering and shopping there is the fashion show. Local clothing boutiques will model the latest summer fashions and give styling advice featuring community members as models. The models hair and make up will also showcase local stylists. Paint Party and Wine will be there demonstrating how easily you can create a masterpiece while enjoying time with your friends.

Red, White and Beautiful is a unique girls’ night out of pampering and shopping just before Mother’s Day. Red, White and Beautiful began in June of 2010 as a fundraiser to support the community Red, White and Boom fireworks.

Each year Red, White and Beautiful has evolved. In 2010, 60 women attended the evening at the Ahwatukee Country Club. In 2011 and 2012, the event was moved to the Foothills Golf Club allowing more local vendors and service providers to participate. Last year, more than 125 people attended at the Ahwatukee Recreation Center and the event expanded to include a fashion show.

The chamber’s focus is to provide on-going support and community connections for businesses so non–member businesses are invited to participate. To participate as a vendor, to purchase tickets, or for more information, visit the chamber website,

All businesses participating in Red, White and Beautiful donate an item for the Women in Business Scholarship Fund raffle. Women in Business awards scholarships to women in the Ahwatukee community who are furthering their education. The scholarship presentations are a highlight at the Annual Palo Verde Award Gala, which will be in October this year. We accept applicants, without age restriction, for those who are furthering their education and to women re-entering the education system. Applicants must work, reside or go to school in the Ahwatukee community. Watch the chamber website for information on the application process.

The Ahwatukee Foothills Chamber of Commerce Women in Business hosts education events for the community on the third Tuesday of each month — luncheons with noted speakers, Business Showcases and our yearly chamber fundraising Palo Verde Award Gala. All chamber hosted events are open to the public.

Support the fireworks, shop local, and enjoy an evening of fun.
