In 1999, the Ahwatukee Foothills Chamber of Commerce took on the huge responsibility of managing a free, family-oriented event, a fireworks show. Started in 1974, the event has evolved and become a signature event aptly named Red, White and Boom. It has been, and still is, a family tradition for many in Ahwatukee and surrounding areas. With a viewing audience of now more than 40,000 people the chamber continues to make this a premier event to attend.

A large part of the chamber’s motivation is the wonderful response from the sponsors, vendors, volunteers and members of the community. The chamber greatly appreciates the support of time, money, products and services donated by so many every year so Red, White and Boom can continue making memories for our friends and neighbors for years to come.

The 2012 fireworks will of course continue that tradition. This year the chamber has partnered with brand development services agency HDE to organize the event and will be adding a water park, beer garden, hospitality tent, 30 food and retail vendors, a high-end VIP area, and to top it off Radio Disney will be on stage with various performances.

The chamber truly loves this event and is so happy to continue hosting it. If you have never been, this would be a fantastic year to start. If you have been before, we know you will love the enhancements. This year the event will be on Tuesday, July 3. The doors will be opening early, at 3 p.m., so you can take full advantage of the water park. If you have any questions, connect with us and we will be happy to answer them.

Christie Ellis, owner/designated broker of Sonoran Mountain Realty, is co-chair of the Red, White and Boom Committee with Jeff Schenk. She serves on the Ahwatukee Chamber Board of Directors.
