The Ahwatukee Foothills Chamber of Commerce thanks the many volunteers who assisted us in putting together this year’s Red, White and Boom Fireworks Celebration. These volunteers give up their family time for the good of the community, and we are grateful for their help.

Presented by Vision Community Management at the Ahwatukee Country Club, the chamber is proud to continue this 38-year Ahwatukee tradition. We thank our sponsors, local businesses, clubs and individuals whose donations made the fireworks display possible. The Ahwatukee Foothills News is always very supportive in advertising and promoting this annual event and we thank them. We belong to a great community that has such a strong cooperative spirit, and continually supports local activities.

This year’s live entertainment included the Radio Disney Rockin Road Crew, followed by local band Lane Change. The kids enjoyed the water zone activity area to play in and stay cool in our summer heat. Other activities included a hot dog-eating contests sponsored by Von Hanson’s Meats for the kids and one for the local firefighters. The 6,000 attendees who came through the gate enjoyed a wide range of tasty treats and specialty products from more than 50 vendors.

We are proud of the Ahwatukee American Legion Post 64 who presented the colors and flag, and for Ahwatukee resident Jenny Kowalski for singing the National Anthem. The crew from Fireworks Productions of Arizona ended the evening with a spectacular fireworks display.

“Every year Ahwatukee Country Club looks forward to hosting the Ahwatukee Chamber’s Red, White & Boom event,” said Terry Duggan, president of Foothills Golf Group. “We love the community which we work in day in and day out, but oftentimes we only get to meet our golfing neighbors. This event provides us a chance to get connected with all of our community residents to celebrate our great country and the freedoms we all enjoy. We look forward to continuing to work with the community, the Ahwatukee chamber, and all involved to continue this great Independence Day tradition at Ahwatukee Country Club.”

The Red, White and Boom committee gave us a great show and we always appreciate the hard work they put into this community event. If you’d like to make a donation to the fireworks fund, visit

We hope to see you again in 2014!
