Police are searching for a man who robbed a woman at gunpoint, taking her purse and car.

The armed robbery and carjacking took place in the 15800 block of South Lakewood Parkway around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday night, according to Lt. Mark Tallman.

He said the man approached the woman in the apartment complex as she was arriving home.

“He states ‘Give me everything,’” said Tallman, and while holding a silver or chrome handgun took her purse and vehicle.

The car was found hours later in a nearby apartment complex in the 3200 block of East Chandler Boulevard.

The victim wasn’t hurt in the incident, but Tallman said it’s a reminder to stay vigilant.

“Wherever you are, you need to be mindful of your surroundings,” he said.

Police also ask that when people see suspicious people lurking about to call and to never underestimate the situation.

“You want to go with your gut instincts,” Tallman said.

Anyone with any information on the suspect or the armed robbery and carjacking is asked to call the police at (602) 262-6151.
