Police are making a full court press to find a man who entered an Ahwatukee Foothills condo around 10:20 p.m. Oct. 10 and assaulted a 90-year-old women, then held her captive as he ransacked the residence.

“This is a top priority for us,” said Lt. Mark Tallman, who works out of the Pecos Park police substation. “This is a coward who would do this and we want him off the streets.”

On Wednesday, police released a composite sketch of the man.

He’s described as a black male, between 30 to 35 years old, 5 feet, 2 inches to 5 feet, 5 inches tall, with a stocky build, weighing 160 to 180 pounds, clean shaven with a distinct Southern accent.

Police say he entered the condo in the 16400 block of South 12th Street through a partially-opened kitchen window and grabbed the victim from behind, shoving her down on a bed where she broke her collar bone.

He told her to stop screaming and put her in a separate room while he went through the condo for 90 minutes, taking credit cards, jewelry, a television and other property. He also took the victim’s Lexus, which he used to transport the stolen items. The vehicle was found the next day near Liberty Lane and Desert Foothills Parkway.

Some residents believe they may have seen the man around the complex in the days before the burglary and assault, but police have few other clues.
