The Maricopa Association of Governments wants the public to share its public transportation priorities at a public hearing on Friday.

MAG, in conjunction with the Arizona Department of Transportation, Citizens Transportation Oversight Committee, Valley Metro, METRO and the City of Phoenix Public Transit Department, will conduct the public hearing to provide information on the most recent transportation plans, including freeway, street and transit projects, at noon Friday at the MAG Offices, 302 N. 1st Ave., Phoenix. The session will be in the Saguaro Room on the second floor.

Draft documents for the projects are available for review on the MAG Web site or under the "resources" tab at the following link: http://www.mag.maricopa.gov/event.cms?item=11428.

Comments may also be sent via e-mail to Jason Stephens at jstephens@mag.maricopa.gov.

The plans being discussed include:

-- Draft Project Listing for the FY 2011-2015 MAG Transportation Improvement Program.

-- Draft Regional Transportation Plan 2010 Update.

-- ADOT Tentative FY 2011-2015 Five Year Freeway Program.

-- Regional Transit Update.

-- Job Access Reverse Commute/New Freedom Grant Update

Public comments received at the hearing or by e-mail will be presented to the MAG policy committees in April for review and consideration before the plans are approved for an air quality conformity analysis. A second public hearing will be in June before the final plans are adopted in July.

For more information about attending the hearing, or to arrange special disability accommodations, contact Stephens, MAG public involvement planner, at 602-452-5004. Parking under the MAG building will be validated, and transit tickets will be provided to those who use transit to attend the meeting. For media requests, contact Kelly Taft, MAG communications manager, at 602-452-5020.
