It’s that time of year. The weather is warming up, the school year is coming to a close, and many parents are wondering what their children are going to do over the summer. If you have a daughter, sending her to Girl Scout summer camp is a great place for her to have fun over the summer and experience unique programs at the same time.

Girl Scouts-Arizona Cactus-Pine Council (GSACPC) offers four distinct summer camps specializing in different programs for girls. You don’t even have to be a Girl Scout to attend!

At Girl Scouts, we believe camp is a place where girls can create memories, make new discoveries, develop lifelong friendships and learn new skills.

We strive to make camp a place where girls can become the best they can be, learn to care for and protect the environment, and become part of the camp community.

At camp, girls are empowered to step outside their comfort zone, take risks and grow as leaders. All the programs and sessions offered through our camps are designed to provide a leadership experience, while challenging girls to do new and exciting activities — some of which are only offered at our camps.

There are a variety of camp packages that suit all girls’ interests. If the economy is a factor in deciding whether to register for summer camp, the Council offers many camperships and scholarships. Financial assistance is available to all girls.

What’s even better is this year GSACPC is offering a new experience for girls: Day Camp on the Road.

Day Camp on the Road is a special camp hitting the town and bringing the fun to you. Our day camp will be traveling across the state to provide amazing camp programming and field trips right in your neighborhood. We’ll be headed to various parts of the Phoenix metro area as well as areas throughout northern Arizona. This is a unique opportunity for girls who are interested in travelling and those who may not be ready for a resident camp.

Camp Willow Springs in Prescott, Ariz., offers arts and crafts, creative expression and the performing arts. It is a passion, spending the summer at Willow Springs. Specific features include high and low ropes course, ceramics, theater and dance, arts and crafts, jewelry making and programs around fashion and sewing.

If you love horses, Camp Marapai in Prescott, Ariz., is for you. At Camp Mariapi, we offer a variety of horseback riding programs. Other specific features include gardening, composting, geocaching and programs focused on science, technology, engineering and math.

Camp Shadow Rim in Payson, Ariz., offers the complete outdoor experience. Shadow Rim Ranch features climbing, canoeing, kayaking, outdoor survivor challenge programs and exploring the forest alongside a bubbling creek.
