Veterans from local American Legion Post 64 were at Kyrene Akimel A-al middle school Tuesday to present a program to sixth-graders on the history of flags (including a version of the Betsey Ross flag, above, representing the 13 colonies) that have flown over what would be the United States. The veterans' program consisted of music, historical narrative, question-and-answer period and presentation of about 10 flags by American Legion members. "We'd like to do it for all of the middle schoolers," said Post 64 member and Ahwatukee resident Ed Mangan, who served as narrator for the program. Nov. 9, 2010
