While the victim's family looked on, firefighters and paramedics responded Wednesday around 1:45 p.m. to a minor crash involving a pickup truck and Foothills resident Stanley Smusz. Police said that Smusz was riding his bicycle in the bike lane on the wrong side of Elliot Road at 44th Street when he and the truck collided. Rescue 38, an ambulance stationed at Warner Road and 50th Street, responded to the incident but may be eliminated as part of proposed city budget cuts.
