Capt. Jonathan Jacobs of the Phoenix Fire Department gives some tips about how to use a grill safely. He recommends inspecting your propane tank and hoses that connect the gas to the grill, keeping the grill in a good area away from any lawn furniture or wooden structures and igniting the grill right away so gas doesn't build up in the grill. If a fire does get out of control, Jacobs said to close the lid first to control the flames and then shut off the gas tank.
