Four siblings in Ahwatukee Foothills will be performing together for the first time in next month’s production of “The Nutcracker” by the Ahwatukee Foothills Ballet.

Linda Gregg, mother of Olivia, Bella, Porter and Cooper, said she is proud to have her kids all in the same ballet this year.

“I am the proudest mom ever,” Gregg said.

Olivia, 12, landed the role of the Sugar Plum Fairy while Bella, 10, has been cast as Clara. Porter and Cooper, ages 8 and 5, are playing marching boys.

Though Olivia is no stranger to “The Nutcracker,” after playing Clara in 2010, and cast in other roles for the past seven seasons, she and Bella are the first pair of sisters to be cast as the two lead female roles, according to Kimberly Lewis, the show’s producer.

“Now, it’s kind of tradition for families to be involved together,” said Lewis, also the owner and founder of Dance Studio 111 in Ahwatukee. “It’s what makes the holidays so special.”

The production will be hosted at Desert Vista High School’s Fine Arts Theater Dec. 21-23, with a special appearance by Santa Clause on Dec. 22.

Lewis mentioned community support is vital in keeping the annual production going.

“We have snow falling inside the theater, and all generations enjoy the show,” she said. “It’s just magical.”

For the Gregg kids, the show is even more special because they can experience it together.

“They are just thrilled, and they tell everyone they’re going to be in ‘The Nutcracker,’” Gregg said.

Show dates will begin Friday, Dec. 21, at 7 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 22, at 2 p.m., with a special appearance by Santa Claus; and ending on Sunday, Dec. 23, at 7 p.m. at Desert Vista Fine Arts Theater, 16440 S. 32nd St.

Tickets are on sale at Dance Studio 111, 4910 E. Chandler Blvd., or by emailing ahwatukeenutcracker@yahoo.com.
