CHANDLER

In recognition of Men's Health Month, the health care experts at Chandler Regional Medical Center's Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Oxygen Center are drawing attention to chronic radiation proctitis, a hidden complication that develops in some prostate cancer survivors after successful radiation therapy.

Chronic radiation proctitis is inflammation and damage to the lower parts of the colon brought on by this type of exposure. It is caused in part by damage to the blood vessels, which supply oxygen and other nutrients to the colon.
