By Nathan Rubin Rock Bottom offers a variety of comfort foods such as prime rib, which is now being served seven nights a week. They have also introduced five new bowls like Mrs. Wangs shrimp bowl for $8.95. The restaurant also has a lunch value menu. The $5.79 meals include soup and salad, pizza and salad, Cobb salad, chicken Genovese or chicken tenders. The $6.79 meals include sliders, chicken fried chicken, salmon fish chips or enchiladas. They also offer deals like kids eat free on Monday and Tuesday. Rock Bottom offers a wide variety of home-made desserts, such as a mini sundae or carrot cake for $1.99 during lunch.

To celebrate its anniversary, the restaurant located at 14205 S. 50th St. will tap an "aggressively hopped" pale ale called Catcher in the Rye. Although tapping is normally done at 6:30 p.m., for this occasion, manager Roland Brooks said they will be serving the brew all day long.
The restaurant has also imported a limited number of anniversary growlers, which can be purchased for $50. They can then be refilled each month during a new beer tapping for $2.
Brooks said while the 10th anniversary growler is a bit more expensive than the regular ones, it pays itself off over the course of the year.
"You can't even buy a beer for $2," Brooks said. "Buy yours while you can. They'll sell out; they always do. And once they're gone, they're gone."
Also to tie in with baseball season, Rock Bottom will be serving hot dogs and brats for only $1 all day. From 3:30 to 6:30 p.m., the restaurant will have its recession-friendly happy hour specials, where all food and drinks are only $3, and after brewmaster Guy Bartmess talks briefly about the Catcher in the Rye beer at 6:30 p.m., he will introduce musician Ivan Harshman to entertain the crowd.
Brooks said it has been a very unique experience working at the Ahwatukee Foothills restaurant over the years.
"A lot of people recognize the fact that we're not just here for ourselves but we are here for the community," Brooks said. "I've been here for six years and there's probably a good 100 people who know me by name and know my life story, and they really get connected with our staff, too. So it's been fun."
