Beginning at 8:30 p.m., Sheff will be on hand to introduce his movie-within-a-movie. Starring Deborah Foreman (Valley Girl), Patrick MacNee (The New Avengers) and Tony Curtis (Spartacus), Lobster Man from Mars is about a young film student who tries to sell his weird movie to a desperate film producer who is in need of a tax write-off. In the film, Mars suffers from an air leakage, and sends the dreaded Lobster Man to Earth to steal its air.
According to Sheff, Orson Welles jokingly referred to his classic "War of the Worlds" broadcast as "That ‘Lobster Man From Mars' thing I did." Struck by the phrase, Sheff asked permission to use it for a movie title - and was granted it.
The film will be shown with a live shadowcast and audience participation, followed by a Q&A and signing with writer/director Sheff and actor M.G. Kelly, who plays a Private Eye in the film. The Rocky Horror Picture Show, with a lingerie contest, will follow at 11 p.m.
Chandler Cinemas is located at 2140 N. Arizona Ave, Chandler. Cost is $6 per film or $10 for both, cash only.
