Anwatukee Foothills News

At CK’s Tavern and Grill in Ahwatukee Foothills, server Tommy Pierucki “friends” a lot of people. He said he met his dentist, real estate agent and loan officer there, just because he serves them regularly.

“It’s a social network here. I’m just going to do it online,” he said.

This week, Pierucki started posting coupons on Twitter such as, “Buy one entree or sandwich, and get one half off.” In order for the coupon to be valid, customers have to “retweet” the post and print it out.

Pierucki also said they’re open to customers’ suggestions on what they’d like the coupons to be.

“Ahwatukee is big enough where there is plenty of room for improvement for us as far as business goes,” he said. “But it’s a small enough niche where everyone is tight and close.”

All day, every day, CK’s has Heineken pints for $2.50. Certain other items go on special each day of the week. Monday is buy one burger, get the second half off, plus $2.50 Killian’s pints. Tuesday is 40 cent wings, $2.50 Sierra Nevada pints, and $2.50 Monster domestics. Wednesday is Baja Wednesday, half off all Mexican appetizers, $2.50 Corona, Corona Light and Pacifico bottles, $3 Sauza margaritas, $2 Dos Equis Amber and Lager drafts. Thursday is buy one chicken sandwich get the second half off, plus $2.50 Fat Tire pints and $2.50 Three Wiseman drinks (Jack, Jim or Jose). Friday is all you can eat fish fry, plus $2.50 Molson Canadian pints. Saturday is $2.50 Blue Moon pints and Sunday is $2.50 Bloody Marys and mimosas and $2.50 Alaskan pints.

Pierucki said owner Kendra Fleetwood has made all the right decisions when it comes to her business.

“(Fleetwood) caters to the sports fan that wants to hang out and watch the game and not spend a lot of money,” he said.

Thursdays through Sundays, CK’s has live bands beginning at about 9 p.m.

Pierucki said CK’s has all the crowds: a lunch crowd, happy hour crowd, dinner crowd, the late-night band crowd, families to bikers, smokers to non-smokers.

“If you literally sat here all day and saw the people that come in here from open to close it’d be like, wow this is really weird how it transitions from a lunch to a happy hour to a dinner to a bar and it’s really unique.”

For more information, call (480) 706-5564, visit www.ckgrill.com, or follow them on Twitter to take advantage of their coupons, user name “ckgrill.”

Healthcare reform
In a final push for a sweeping healthcare overhaul, President Barack Obama urged a simple "up-or-down" vote on the legislation. What would your vote be?
Up! Let's get this thing passed already!
The proposals look good on paper, but I'm still hesitant about its execution.
Down. It's time to go back to the drawing board.
