Let's Eat: Tiggos open for business
Comments 0 | Recommend 0A new restaurant has opened in Ahwatukee Foothills that serves American cuisine in a family atmosphere, and then switches gears on Friday and Saturday nights to be an entertainment venue.
Tiggos' second Valley location at 1334 E. Chandler Blvd. is adorned with black and white pictures of Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn, hanging on walls painted in warm yellow.
Owner Bob Lambert said they chose to use images of classic movie stars because they're people guests can relate to.
"Between the warm colors and the people familiar to them, we thought it was a good look," said Lambert, who, along with co-owners Mike Miller and Mark Imhoff, are longtime Ahwatukee Foothills residents.
They wanted to open the restaurant in the area because they were tired of commuting to Scottsdale.
Tiggos' menu consists of high-quality American cuisine, such as steaks, halibut and blackened chicken alfredo. Lambert said none of the food has any trans fat and all entrees are less than $15.
On weekends, from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m., Tiggos has booked local bands to come in and play, and guests are welcome to dance. The Lounge Cats are set to play on Fridays and Lighten Up Francis on Saturdays.
Tiggos will host a grand opening sometime in the end of January, Lambert said, where there will be prizes and events. He said they are waiting for all the processes to run more smoothly with training servers and preparing food before the celebration.
Lambert added that he plans for the restaurant to be an asset to the community, and is open to helping out local schools and charities.
"We welcome people to engage with us," Lambert said. "It definitely goes beyond being an entertainment location for us."
