Good, clean fun is not always easy to find, but on Saturday the Ahwatukee Comedy Club is performing at the Grace Inn Hotel, and the group promises an evening that will be enjoyable and appropriate for all ages.

The Ahwatukee Comedy Club has been performing at the Grace Inn Hotel since 2005, and Tom Grayson, founder of the local comedy club, expects a good turnout this Saturday for what will be the group's 73rd show at the hotel.

Grayson's group has been sponsored by SwedeClean.com since its inception in 2005, which plays well into the group's image of telling clean jokes.

"Our sponsor, Anders Berg, is a professional cleaner, so he tells everyone that he cleans the jokes and I tell them at the speed of sound," Grayson said.

Grayson, who is an airline pilot as well as a comedian, decided to form the Ahwatukee Comedy Club because he wanted a place to perform on a regular basis.

"In 2005 the manager of the Grace Inn Hotel gave us a try, and after we had a good turnout, they decided to bring us back on a monthly basis," Grayson said.

Grayson believes his comedy club has been a success because it fills a need in the Ahwatukee Foothills area for comedy that is not raunchy.

"We're not squeaky clean, but we're Ahwatukee clean," he said. "There are places in the area that have tried open mic, but open mic is hard because people will say anything to make others laugh, and it can be really inappropriate."

The June 20 performance will feature the "Phoenix Rat Pack," which consists of Ebenezer Williams, Armon Williams and Keith Ellis.

"Last year we did a successful show with the three of them, and we're bringing them back as our own answer to the Rat Pack," Grayson said. "Everyone had a good time last year so hopefully they'll all have fun this year."

Grayson encourages people who are interested in trying their hand at comedy to contact him and try a brief stint with the Ahwatukee Comedy Club.

"If I haven't seen a comic perform I'll give them three to five minutes on the stage, and if they stay clean and I like them, I'll bring them back," Grayson said.

The Ahwatukee Comedy Club is also featuring a contest called "So You Think You're Funny" for new comedians.

"Each month since February we've been letting people come and compete on our stage, and we choose a winner," Grayson said. "We'll eventually bring all of the winners back for a final competition, and a final winner will be chosen. The winner will get a 10 to 15 minute spot at the Broadway Comedy Club in New York City."

Comedians interested in competing in "So You Think You're Funny" can register online at www.cleancomedyclub.com
