I would like to remodel my kitchen before the school year ends since we usually leave for the summer. How long does a kitchen remodel usually take?
The time needed to do a kitchen remodel depends on the scope of the work, but it usually takes about two months. Right now is a great time to start any remodel project since it most likely could be completed before the summer starts.
Foremost, I recommend you consult with an experienced professional. A designer can help you with every step of the selection of products to keep within your budget and the renderings of the design of your new kitchen. The first step is to select the appliances since the dimensions are needed to design the kitchen. Second, you need to select the cabinetry, flooring, countertops, plumbing, lighting, paint color, backsplash and hardware. Depending on the scope of work it could take a few days to several weeks for the designer to create the new renderings for the project. Once the design is finalized the cabinetry order is placed and it usually takes four weeks to get them.
It is imperative to have a schedule since once the cabinetry arrives it needs to be scheduled for installation. While waiting for the cabinetry the flooring can be installed and the room can be painted. Once the cabinets are installed a template is made to fabricate the countertop and all the other product installations should follow.
I wanted to share with you the before and after of one of my kitchen renovations using Huntwood cabinetry products. The only thing that was not replaced was the flooring.
Good luck with your project.
We would like to remodel our kitchen but we have a small budget. Is it possible to find some deals?
Yes, more than ever many companies are offering great incentives to buy their products. I suggest that once you have decided what products you want, research and compare the prices and features offered by different companies and be careful not to compromise on quality.
Note that The Arizona Department of Commerce Energy Office has secured a rebate appliance program that will launch Monday, April 12. It is designed to help consumers make the switch to Energy Star appliances. Don’t forget to check your big discount stores, since they buy in bulk that can help you save, especially in plumbing supply and lighting.
Furthermore, make sure to ask your designer to help you take advantage of all the discounts available. Being in the industry they will be savvy to help you keep within your budget.
