Fogo E Brasa, Ahwatukee Foothills’ authentic Brazilian Churrasco steak house, has changed its name to the Brazilian Bull to bring a little more pizzazz to the restaurant.
“The Brazilian Bull sounds a little more in your face,” manager Michael Anderson said. “We let the customers have a good time. If you want to be loud and rowdy, be loud and rowdy. That’s what it’s like in Brazil, why not do the same thing?”
Located at 4909 E. Chandler Blvd., Brazilian Bull does not offer a traditional menu. Instead it has an all-you-can-eat system of salad bars and a color-coded wooden dowel.
When the green side of the dowel is up, meat runners come to the table and slice the meat right to your plate. Each cut of meat can be prepared rare, medium or well done.
When the red side of the dowel is up, the meat runners will leave you alone.
“When you see people walking around with different types of meat, there’s a lot of conversation around it,” owner/partner Michael Pinhas said.
Dinner offerings include garlic chicken, barbecue chicken, beef ribs, pork ribs, pork tenderloin, linguisa (sausage), ham, kebob, turkey wrapped in bacon, top sirloin, picanya, tri tip, garlic steak, lamb and chicken hearts.
Anderson said the picanya is a popular choice. It is a traditional Brazilian cut of top sirloin, with the fat left on the outside of it to keep the moisture in.
The fixed price for dinner is $31, drinks and desserts are extra. For lunch, the Brazilian Bull offers options of $9.97 for the salad bar only, $14.97 for meat only or $18.97 for both.
Along with the name change, Pinhas said the Brazilian Bull is now looking into franchising opportunities.
“We have the ability to franchise now. Hopefully, you’ll begin to see these popping up in other places,” Pinhas said. “We have already had a number of people interested. It was the number of people who were interested before us even going into that venture that we decided, you know, this is a road that we wanted to take.”
