What's in a name? If it's the right name it could be more than $5,000. Corona del Sol High School has upped from $1,000 to $5,000 the reward for the name or names of the person or persons responsible for last month's threats against the Tempe high school. Corona is in the Tempe Union High School District along with Desert Vista and Mountain Pointe high schools, and the school is about 4 miles away from Mountain Pointe. In addition to those funds, local parents have donated more that $700 to the reward fund, and the donations keep coming. "I know it's going to go up, I just don't know by how much," said Corona principal Jim Denton. If the perpetrators aren't caught, Denton added, all of the proceeds will go to Tempe's Thomas J. Pappas School for the homeless. Between April 10 and April 14, the school found four threats scrawled on the boys' bathroom walls and in front of the school warning that violence would strike the school April 20. April 20 - the anniversary of the 1999 Columbine High School massacre, the anniversary of Adolph Hitler's birth and four days after the Virginia Tech rampage that left 33 dead - came and went without incident. --Jason Ludwig can be reached at (480) 898-7916 or jludwig@aztrib.com.
