Tuesday: DV Orchestras present annual Pops Concert

Desert Vista High School's award winning orchestras will perform their last concert of the year at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 5, in the school's auditorium at 16440 S. 32nd St. The event will showcase pops selections from Hairspray, Indiana Jones, a Paul Simon Medley and much more. This concert will also feature a solo from the AIA State Solo & Ensemble Festival, a "Senior Solo" and the DV 2009 Concerto Competition winners. A 50/50 raffle will take place; half of the money raised will benefit DV Orchestra and half will go to the winner (adult purchasers only and must be present to win). A reception with refreshments hosted by DV Orchestra Boosters will be held after the concert.

MidFirst Bank's Fundraiser Coin Van will be adjacent to the auditorium starting at 5:30 p.m. MidFirst will match dollar-for-dollar up to the first $1,000 of coins deposited in the Coin Van. Contributions will support music, uniforms, festival costs, instrument repairs and supplies. DV Orchestra will donate 25% of the proceeds to the Akimel and Altadena middle school orchestra programs.
