Some wanted to save PAC a bit too badly

The potential withdrawal of the Phoenix Afterschool Center from the Kyrene School District inflamed the passions of many parents - at least one to a possibly violent degree. One of the people standing near Phoenix City Councilman Greg Stanton after his announcement that the PAC program would continue in Kyrene through the end of the school year was a uniformed Tempe Police officer. He was on-hand after one parent took a desire to see PAC remain in place a little too far. "Some guy called about PAC and made a gun threat," said Kyrene board president Sue Knudson after Tuesday's board meeting. "He said he solves his problems with guns, not with politics." Kyrene officials said they didn't think anything would come of the threat, but added that they can never be too careful.
