Billy Walker will be inducted into the Arizona Aviation Hall of Fame in 2011.

South Mountain resident Billy Walker will be inducted to the Arizona Aviation Hall of Fame in 2011. Located at the Pima Air and Space Museum in Tucson, this Hall of Fame serves as a permanent shrine to Arizonans who have made significant contributions to the advancement of aviation and aerospace.

Chances are you have seen Walker fly over the community in his 1943 Boeing 75 “Stearman,” as he often does, along with three or four of his pilot buddies.

Walker made a distinguished career behind the controls of more than 200 different types of aircraft. Following college at Arizona State University, he met and married his wife Cheryl, a former flight attendant with Frontier Air Lines. They have one son and three grandchildren.

He flew for JetBlue, America West, Frontier and during the Vietnam War was a civilian pilot flying combat troops and cargo for Air America in Cambodia and other parts of Southeast Asia.
