Ahwatukee Foothills resident A.J. (Alexandra) Odneal will join three other Valley songwriters to perform with guitarist Joey Myers in the second Songwriters’ Showcase event starting at 7 p.m., March 5, at the Tempe Center for the Arts, 700 W. Rio Salado Parkway.

The finalists were selected from more than 100 singer/songwriters that participated in Tempe’s weekly Walk-in Wednesdays Open Mic series. For some performers this will be the first opportunity to showcase their original songs with a professional back-up band.

Odneal performs on acoustic guitar. She is an Arizona native and attends Arizona School for the Arts. During the past year, she has performed her original songs at the Tucson Folk Festival, the Prescott Folk Festival, the Grand Avenue Festival, the Carefree Christmas Festival and at several Phoenix First Friday Art Walk venues. She was selected as a semifinalist for her original song in the Cave Creek Film and Arts Festival. In addition to songwriting, Odneal enjoys musical theater and has performed in ensemble roles for Tempe’s critically-acclaimed Stray Cat Theatre (A Very Merry Unauthorized Children’s Scientology Pageant) and Mesa Encore Theatre (Footloose).

Tickets for the showcase ($5) are available at http://tca.ticketforce.com.
