Girl Scouts earn Bronze Award

Girl Scouts from Junior Troop 2292 recently earned the Girl Scout Bronze Award.

Kyrene de la Sierra Elementary School fifth-graders Alexandra Gutierrez, Abigail Kany, Rebecca Kim, Avery Strachan and Ryann Yount dedicated more than 22 hours each in planning, organizing and collecting nearly 500 items, which they donated to the Arizona Humane Society.

The Pawz Spa and PETCO allowed the girls to place collection boxes at their businesses for community members to drop off donations. The girls also canvased their neighborhoods collecting items from neighbors.

The Girl Scout Bronze Award, the highest honor a Girl Scout Junior can earn, requires her to learn the leadership and planning skills necessary to follow through on a project that makes a positive impact on her community. Working towards this award demonstrates her commitment to helping others, improving her community and the world and becoming the best she can be.
