SheROX Triathlon event: 8 a.m., Tempe Beach Park, 1 W. Rio Salado Parkway, Tempe.  Fresh Start Women's Foundation and the organizers of the Philadelphia Insurance Triathlon have teamed up for an empowering women's event that includes a 4K (1/4 mile) swim, 19K (12 mile) bike and 5K (3.1 mile) run. Mountainside Plaza sponsoring canned food drive: 10 a.m.-4 p.m., 40th Street and Chandler Boulevard. The food drive will benefit Saint Mary's Food Bank. Canned foods (only) may be dropped off in the round-about area in the corner of the shopping center. Each store will hold its own raffle, and for every can of food donated a ticket will be given to use at the consumer's choice of raffle they wish to participate in. During this event the stores will also have special discounts and complimentary food. The goal is to receive at least 1,500 cans.

 

Ahwatukee Adventure Boot Camp/Aqua Boot Camp Benefit for JoAnn Chase: 8-9:30 a.m., Ahwatukee Community Center, 4700 E. Warner Road. All proceeds will help defray medical bills for Ahwatukee Foothills resident JoAnn Chase, who is battling cancer for the third time. The first 45 minutes will be an outdoor workout with Ahwatukee Adventure Boot Camp and the second 45 minutes will be a workout in the pool with the Community Center's Aqua Boot Camp. JoAnn Chase Benefit Golf Tournament: 11:30 a.m. registration, 1 p.m. shotgun start, The Raven at South Mountain Golf Club, 3636 E. Baseline Road. All proceeds will help defray medical bills for Ahwatukee Foothills resident JoAnn Chase, who is battling cancer for the third time. The cost, $150 per golfer or $500 per foursome, includes green fees, golf cart, range balls and an American barbecue. There will also be contests, an auction and a raffle. Barbecue tickets may be purchased without golf for $25 each. Sponsorships are available, and donations for door prizes and the auction will be gratefully accepted. Second Annual Dos Gringos "Cinco de Mayo" golf tournament: 10:30 a.m. registration, 1 p.m. shotgun start, Scottsdale Silverado Golf Club, 7605 E. Indian Bend Road.
