As a retired police officer, Miller has worked with young people in anti-gang programs and was instrumental in developing the "Officer Friendly" program. He began his civil rights work at age 13, in Selma, Ala., and worked on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s voter registration campaign. He recently received the Calvin C. Goode Lifetime Achievement award for his commitment to creating a compassionate and socially just community. Also on the agenda is Ed Hermes, candidate for County Supervisor.
