Beryl Jean Schutte passes away

Born on Jan. 21, 1930 in Pemberville, Ohio, and passed away on Feb. 25 in Tempe, Beryl was a resident of Toledo, Ohio, for more than 60 years and a snowbird in Ahwatukee for the past 15 years.

Beryl was an active member in her home church, Epiphany Lutheran. She was also a member of Mountain View Lutheran Church in Ahwatukee.

She was a graduate of Ohio State University with a master’s degree in home economics.

Beryl was editor of the 1950 Ohio State University year book the “Makio” and belonged to the Delta Zeta sorority. She taught classes at the University of Toledo, Bowling Green State University, and Owens Tech. Beryl served as a representative of Foodtown Club Party for eight years.

She enjoyed sewing and working on crafts as well as playing games, reading books, traveling and fishing on Lake Erie. She especially loved making memories with her granddaughter and great grandson. She was the wife of 61 years to Floyd G. Schutte, mother of Peggy J., grandmother of Alena, and great grandmother of Thacher.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Henry Thomas and Alice Marie Covill.

A memorial will take place on at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, March 8 at Mountain View Lutheran Church, 11002 S. 48th St. with Pastor Leland Armbright officiating.

Her final resting place will be at Freedom Township Eisenhour Cemetery in Wood County, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Hospice of the Valley and/or Mountain View Lutheran Church.
