Delbert Russell Jeffers, 72, of Ahwatukee Foothills, passed away on Nov. 28. He was the eldest child of Marion and Joyce (von Kaenel) Jeffers of Ft. Collins, Colo. Del graduated from Ft. Collins High School in 1956 and from Colorado State University in 1960 with a degree in mechanical engineering. He was a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army. He retired after working at IBM for 31 years and became an adjunct professor at South Mountain Community College, where he taught for the last five years. Del enjoyed time with his family, hiking, biking and spending time in the Colorado Mountains. Del is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary Ann (James) Jeffers, and their four children, Jennifer Davis of Ft. Collins, Colo., Rusty Jeffers and Scott Jeffers of Phoenix, and Andrea Wellington of Tucson, along with his mother, Joyce Jeffers, and two sisters, Glenda Anderson and Janet Tucay, all of Ft. Collins, Colo. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Paz de Cristo, 424 W. Broadway Road, in Mesa. Arrangements are under the direction of Carr Tenney Mortuary in Tempe.
