During a gentle downward rain in Coral Gables, Fla., Ashanti Alise Woods Decker, J.D., who loves Jesus, was loosed of her silver cord, and her spirit returned to our eternal God and Savior Jesus Christ at 10:30 a.m. on Sept. 10.
Ashanti was born on Aug. 1, 1980 in Phoenix, and was 33 at the time of her passing. She left behind her loving parents, Rex and Jeannette Woods Decker; beloved siblings, Brian, Justin, Sara and Kai; paternal grandparents; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends to remember her life. A bright and shining star in a constellation of brilliant friends and associates, she graduated with honors from Harvard, and obtained her Juris Doctor from NYU School of Law. She was a graduate of Mountain Pointe High School. Always a leader beginning in grade school, she will be remembered for being generous, helpful and charismatic, with a high IQ, stunning good looks, and an over arching love for her family and friends.
A memorial service will be on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 10:30 a.m. at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, 1401 E. Jefferson St. in Phoenix.
