Lynda Bowman passes away

Lynda Mary Bowman, 61, passed away on Feb. 1 at her Ahwatukee Foothills home. She was surrounded by her family and close friends.

She was a devoted mother, friend and successful business woman. She lived in the Phoenix area for more than 35 years.

Bowman had tremendous compassion for helping others, and began as a special educator at New Way School. Her work as a teacher continued at the university level, teaching literacy to veterans.

Bowman was a successful business woman, co-creating Merex, a company targeting literacy in the workplace. She also worked in the field of non-profit organizations as a trainer, teaching others how to raise funds to fulfill their mission.

Bowman changed the lives of tens of thousands of people. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen D'Luzansky. She is survived by her son, Gabriel; sister, Barbara; brother, David; nieces, Gretchen, Sarah, Tulley and Ashley; and nephews, Rick, Chris and Wes.

A celebration of Bowman's life will be on Saturday, Feb. 12. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mission of Mercy, whose purpose is to expand free health care services to families in need.
