Betty Crowley Soots passes away

Betty Crowley Soots, 90, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 29. She was born on May 19, 1920, in Madison, Wis. She married John Crowley in 1939. Betty and John moved to Arizona in 1941 where they raised five children; Jack, deceased, (Diana); Nancy (Irvin) Barber; Chris; Dennis; and Patrick (Kathleen). Betty was an active parishioner at St. Gregory's Church and a part of the Brophy/Xavier community for 20 years. After John's death in 1971, Betty married Garvin Soots. Together they spent many years with friends, golfing and playing bridge until Garvin's death in 1997. Besides her four children, Betty is survived by her sister, Dorothy Kobb of Madison, Wis., 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and numerous step-children and step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 4 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 3550 E. Knox Road. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, 10045 W. Thomas Road, Avondale. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Betty's name to Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 3550 E. Knox Road, Phoenix, AZ 85044.
